THE WINES: All Burgundy, white and red wines, including wines from Beaujolais, that are not already discounted, which is indicated by saying 'NET' on the sign. THE DEAL: Today until the end of the day Thursday June 25th, take an additional 5% off the purchase of any Burgundy wines, up to 11 bottles. This discount DOES NOT count in addition to other quantity discounts. Burgundy is one of the most historic and important wine growing areas in the world, emulated by growers and winemakers throughout the world. Very few places in the world are considered equally superior in their production of both white wines (Chardonnay) and red wines (Pinot Noir), yet Studies of their techniques, vines and terroir have been going on for centuries, examining every square foot of the most fabled sites to try and determine the source of the magic they possess. As a result they are among the most prized and sought after in the world, and because of their fairly limited nature also run among the most expensive. Values can be very hard to come by, especially when the quality and character of vintages can swing so much year to year, so it can be very intimidating for even fairly experienced customers to explore with much confidence. Hopefully this anniversary special will encourage you to strike out and explore by either dipping into some character-filled but fairly priced Bourgogne level wines, or perhaps getting a special Village designate for a special occasion or cellaring. While most people are familiar with the main parts of Burgundy-Cote d'Or, Cote Challonaise, and the Maconnaise- many don't realize that Beaujolais is connected to Burgundy by geography, sitting adjacent to the edge of the Macon. The Gamay grape was for many generations planted intermittently throughout Burgundy, but over time lost favor in the more prestigious areas. The unique change of soils in Beaujolais give the grape more distinct flavor than anywhere else, but fortunately the worldwide demand for the better quality Crus has not driven the pricing nearly as high as the neighbors to the North. A different wine to be sure, but culturally and geographically close enough to Burgundy for the sake of inclusion in this special deal.

THE WINES: All Italian white wines, including sparkling wines (Prosecco, Moscato d'Asti) that are not already discounted, which is indicated by saying 'NET' on the sign. THE DEAL: Today until the end of the day Wednesday June 17th, take an additional 5% off the purchase of any Italian white wines, up to 11 bottles. This discount DOES NOT count in addition to other quantity discounts. In our time as a retail wine store, perhaps no category in the world has grown and diversified in our store selection the way Italian white wines has. For a time, there was a move towards growing 'International' varieties, thinking that would help make them more marketable. In recent decades, however, there is a return towards individuality and regional pride, making wines that stand out and truly speak of where they are from. Every region has their own varieties, and even in the places where some outside varieties have stuck and taken hold, they have given them a distinct Italian persona. By and large they tend to eschew using oak aging, allowing the natural character of the grape to shine through. We hope you take this opportunity to explore and experiment with our Italian white wine selections, and that you find as much surprise and enjoyment in them as we do. In 1994, Wine Warehouse was founded by owners David and Elizabeth Souza with the intent of bringing the best possible quality and service for both wine and beer to central Virginia. From day 1 the principles have been the same: great selection, great service, all at a great price. We constantly sort through the many mediocre labels out there every year to make sure we are bringing our customers the best possible wines and beers available at every price point, educating ourselves on new producers all over the world, and have even been instrumental in bringing several names into the state over the years. We trust our palates first over press or hype when deciding what wines we bring in. Once they are in the store, every wine and beer is kept at a cellar temperature of approximately 60 degrees or less, so that every wine will be at its best when consumed. 26 years later, with a new generation of Souzas approaching the age to join in the business, we are still a family owned and run store, and the principles are still as important now as they were in the beginning. The dream of this store could not have been realized without the wonderful support of the community and our customers, and we thank you immensely. To celebrate our anniversary we will have a standing special running through June 30th, as well as numerous daily events. For the standing special, mixed cases of wine will be 15% off and solid 1 item cases will be 20% off (not including NET items, which are marked on the signs). All cases of mixed and solid beer will be 6% off. Among the daily events will be unique one day discounts on certain items and special item discounts, which will be presented on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Thank you for helping us turn a dream into a reality. The Wine Warehouse Staff |
