2017 VIDAL BLANC ‘YOUNG’
2015 CHARDONNAY QUAKER RUN 2016 FOOTHILLS RED *SPECIAL FEATURE* 2015 ‘RISE’ DISCOUNTED PRICING AVAILABLE DAY OF TASTING FROM THE WINERY: Rise represents a pivotal moment for Early Mountain Vineyards. While we have always brought a high standard to our wines in order to showcase rigor and vitality, we quietly reserved a small percentage of our production for a wine that is the culmination of years of work and ambition: In Bordeaux, they call it their grand vin, we call it Rise. As Virginia’s expansion on the world stage continues to accelerate, its mountain vineyards have taken the lead. Rise takes the very best that this terroir has to offer and sets a new bar for style, character and elegance, with truly special textural and aromatic qualities. It is with great delight that we offer up this new and special wine. – Ben Jordan, Winemaker When we first opened Early Mountain Vineyards we dreamed of someday producing a wine that could stand side by side with the great wines of the world. Our 2015 vintage was the first to offer us that opportunity proving that patience pays. Using hand selected grapes from our best mountainside vineyard blocks, our talented winemaking team has crafted a unique and extraordinary wine. This superior wine highlights the best Early Mountain has to offer and reinforces our commitment to world class quality in the wines we craft. – Jean Case, Owner OUR VINEYARD: Our acquisition of the Quaker Run vineyard on the southern side of Doubletop mountain changed our winemaking in a number of ways, but in the creation of this wine, Rise, we see the most profound influence. The steep, rocky slopes of the eastern Blue Ridge produce a wine of power and focus that stands with the structured and age worthy wines from leading regions of the world. Quaker Run Merlot is the heart of Rise, selected from the top portion of the Eastern slope. From some of our oldest, lowest vigor vines, this Merlot contributes density and aromatic purity; presence and persistence with fine grain tannin. Cabernet Franc drives aromatic complexity and the Petit Verdot and Tannat contribute structure, depth, and power, building a complete picture. The grapes are a minute selection of our production, and this is our most age worthy wine. BLEND: 57% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot, 14% Tannat TASTING NOTES: Our most beautiful wine—with a balance of power, concentration, and texture with aromatic complexity. On the nose the fruits are dark with Damson plum and wild blackberries accented by mint, cedar and wood spice. On the palate the flavors echo the aromas; structured and layered with ample and persistent tannin.

![]() In 1994, Wine Warehouse was founded by owners David and Elizabeth Souza with the intent of bringing the best possible quality and service for both wine and beer to central Virginia. From day 1 the principles have been the same: great selection, great service, all at a great price. We constantly sort through the many mediocre labels out there every year to make sure we are bringing our customers the best possible wines and beers available at every price point, educating ourselves on new producers all over the world, and have even been instrumental in bringing several names into the state over the years. We trust our palates first over press or hype when deciding what wines we bring in. Once they are in the store, every wine and beer is kept at a constant cellar temperature of 60 degrees or less, so that every wine will be at its best when consumed. 24 years later, with a new generation of Souzas approaching the age to join in the business, we are still a family owned and run store, and the principles are still as important now as they were in the beginning. The dream of this store could not have been realized without the wonderful support of the community and our customers, and we thank you immensely. To celebrate our anniversary we will have a standing special running through June 30th, as well as numerous daily events. For the standing special, mixed cases of wine will be 15% off and solid 1 item cases will be 20% off (not including NET items, which are marked on the signs). All cases of mixed and solid beer will be 6% off. Among the daily events will be unique one day discounts on certain items, tastings, and special item discounts . Thank you for helping us turn a dream into a reality. The Wine Warehouse Staff ![]() The final selections for our epic in-store tasting with Bedrock Wine Co. and winery partner Chris Cottrell. Taking the connection between the craft beer and art worlds to a whole new level, a pint can is a great way to create a unique graphic look, and it doesn't hurt that the liquids inside are pretty outstanding as well (fairly priced to boot!). These are beers that pleasure the eyes and the palate. From Collective Arts we are pouring their 'Stranger Than Fiction' English Porter, 'Life In The Clouds' IPA, and the IPA Project #4. We will also be pouring our first offering from Green Man Brewery in Asheville, NC, their 'Trickster' IPA, as well as two new Evil Twin variants off their popular 'Imperial Biscotti Break' and 'Even More Jesus' stouts. Hope to see you here! ![]() As seen from the emails the last two weeks, there are more than a few new names looking to make space on our shelves early in 2018, with even more in the coming weeks from what we have been hearing. It's hard to keep track of which ones are worthwhile and which are forgettable until you've had a chance to taste them for yourself. So let's do just that, taste some new stuff and see where we think they stack up. We have a whole slew of core releases from Funky Buddah (Floridian Hefeweiss), Bold Mariner (Bold Virginian Pale Ale), Coelacanth (Passionfruit Gose and Kopi-Manis Latte Stout), and D9 (Hakuna Matata Tropical IPA and Brown Sugar, Brown Cow Mocha Brown Ale) to choose from, Is your next favorite among them? Hope to see you here! ![]() Though we knew they were coming, StudioBrew didn't quite land in time for us to get them ready for tasting last week, so we had to get them their own feature slot today. We will be pouring from StudioBrew their Das Pilsner, 'Mosaic Sunset' Imperial IPA w/Agave, 'The Ferguson' Oatmeal Chocolate Milk Stout, and 'Dancing Monk' Belgian Ale, as well a the Basic City 'Opera' Galaxy & Mosaic DIPA and the Smartmouth 'Arriba Grande' Mexican Spiced Coffee Stout. Come on by and give them a try! ![]() Our final tasting to celebrate Cider Week VA is local favorite Potters Craft. Over the last few years the potters crew have built a reputation for creativity in their recipes, drawing a lot of inspiration from the craft beer world, yet still maintaining a strong connection to traditional cidermaking values. The ciders being tasted today showcase all those qualities. We will be opening the Ryesap (Basque influenced, aged in whiskey barrels), Double Simcoe (made with Simcoe hops), Cider Nouveau (aged with Merlot and Petit Verdot skins from King Family Vineyards), and Pelure de Pomme (fermented on the skins along with extended maceration post fermentation). Come on by and enjoy the great diversity cider can provide! ![]() Today's tasting celebrating Cider Week VA shows off the two producers we stock from over in the Shenandoah Valley. From fruit along the many bends of the Shenandoah River (tasting room in Bluemont) we have the 'Rocket' Off-Dry and Windrush Oak and Chestnut Stave Aged ciders from Wild Hare, and from the Showalter Orchard in Timberville we have the Heritage and fruit-added Virginia Strawberry ciders from Old Hill. Hope to see you here! ![]() Today's store tasting celebrating Cider Week VA features a selection from the 'sweetened' side of the cider scene. Not necessarily sweeter tasting (though some are for sure) but made by adding water and sugar back in, along with other flavors often going in as well. These ciders tend to be less expensive and more consistent to make, which makes them extremely popular with the pub and festival crowd, while still showing some local character. On deck for tasting will be the Blue Toad Granny Smith and Harvest Fest ciders, and from Cobbler Mountain the Original Honey and Wild Blackberry Hop ciders. Come on by and give them a try! ![]() Our second day celebrating Cider Week VA, today we feature local favorite Castle Hill Cider, located out Rt 231 towards lovely Gordonsville. Up for tasting will be the Terrestrial (Dry; not pictured, arriving soon from our friends at Central Virginia Distributing) Serendipity (Off-dry), and Big Pippin (infused with ginger and slightly fortified). Come on by and give them a try! |
