TASTING FRIDAY JANUARY 27th; NEW ARRIVAL MEADS AND CIDERS FEATURING OYSTER RIVER WINEGROWERS 4-7pm1/26/2017 Several new releases from area cider and mead producers came out over the holidays, so we figured we would give you all an opportunity to try them out for yourselves this Friday. Of particular interest is a new source from Maine that we featured in an email several weeks back called Oyster River Winegrowers whose naturalistic stylings make for some very dry, almost Basque-like product. Along with their regular bottling we will be trying their limited 'Wildman Cuvee', created by foraging wild grown apples from surrounding forests. All ciders use native yeasts and are unfiltered/unfined. Lots of fun new stuff to enjoy, hope to see you here!

Will have another email going out later this week with all the usual newly arrived goodies, but wanted to give everyone an early heads-up on our tasting this Friday with new-to-our-area BadWolf Brewing Co. from Manassas. Often when a brewery is just getting themselves started in an area they just give us the basics, but we're getting the opportunity to dip a little deeper into their lineup, so we want to get your opinion as we welcome them to Charlottesville. In addition to the Aces High Pale Ale and Jesse's Girl Amber Ale (both in 12oz cans) and the Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Porter (mistakenly named it their 'regular' Claire's Va. Porter in the last email; the proper name is 'Radegast), we also have three new releases, all IPAs. Bizarro Mango IPA is a juicy, tropical mouthfull aged in Gin barrels; Virginia Hooligan is a richer and stronger wet hopped IPA base, and we have the choice of both Gin and Bourbon barrel aged versions to pick from (be sure to read the labels!). We will have a selection of these to taste Friday from 4-7pm, so come on by and give them a try! Also, be on the lookout for two new canned releases from them in the very near future (hopefully before April) of their 'Mother Pucker' Sour Raspberry Wit and 'Kaiju' IPA. |
