A decent amount of new arrivals made their way in to the store in and around the usually quiet 4th of July week, when most people are hitting the big vacation spots. Commonwealth Brewing Co.'s arrival last week from Virginia Beach was the big news, and while the Big Papi DIPA was the overwhelming highlight of their first drop (out of stock now, unfortunately) their entire portfolio is exciting and deserves attention. Available for tasting today will be the Mano Del Puma, Ojo Del Tigre, and Trouvaille from Commonwealth, along with the Orange & Lime Margarita Gose and Pink Lemonade Sour from Old Bust Head, and the just-arrived 'Farmer's Tan' Hoppy Saison from Smartmouth. Hope to see you here! ALL BEERS PURCHASED FROM THE TASTING RECEIVE 6% OFF DURING THE TASTING

Excited to have more and more of the great Virginia breweries getting their beers in package and making them available in Charlottesville! For tasting Friday we will have the distributor rep here showing their two core IPA's (cans of the Strawberry Milkshake had been intended for release but are unavailable at this time) to give everyone a glimpse of what they are doing, as well as a selection from BadWolf (same distributor) and several other recent releases from Virginia. More information on the Kindred Spirits Brewery is in the New Arrivals section below. Final tasting list will be posted Friday on our Facebook page. Hope to see you here! With so many activities going on around town for Graduation Weekend, and with a nod towards American Craft Beer Week (which we celebrate EVERY week here) we decided to pull out all the stops to get all the townies and soon-to-be transplants out our way/ What better reason than a 'Wild' blowout, featuring a selection of funky, tart, and Bretty beers from some of the finest breweries available. On deck are The Bruery: Terreux 'Sour In The Rye', Cascade Strawberry Sour Ale, Alvinne 'Omega' (made from their Morpheus Brett strain),The Wild Beer Co. 'The Blend Summer 2016', Uinta 'Hopscursion Brett IPA, and Potter's 'Peaches & Brett' cider. A lot of creative beers that you usually wouldn't be able to taste on before taking the plunge and buying them. Come on by and give them a try! Rainy day blues got you down? We have a diverse bunch of new arrivals that are certain to turn away the gloom in the room this weekend. On deck for this evening are the Sierra Nevada/Ovila Abbey Style White Ale, Ommegang 'Brunetta' Oud Bruin Ale (thanks to several requests off our email yesterday), Urban Family 'Aristocratic Fantasy' Four Grain Farmhouse Ale, South Street 'Hop Grove' Tropical IPA, Lagunitas 'Davey Murray's Best' Scotch Ale, and Founders Sumatra Mountain Imperial Coffee Brown Ale. Something for pretty much every taste imaginable. Hope to see you here! An abundance of great new IPA arrivals over the last few days make a focused tasting absolutely necessary. The main event is the Ballast Point Unfiltered Sculpin (info in the New Arrivals) to go along with soon-to-arrive Three Notch'd G-IV West Coast IPA (not pictured, arriving this afternoon). Two brand new IPA packages just begging to go mano-a-mano (hoppo-a-hoppo?) to see what's your brand new favorite. But every good fight needs an undercard, so we will have a fresh selection of several other favorites; Southern Tier 2X Oak'd IPA, New Holland 'Hoptronix' DIPA, Avery 'Raja' DIPA (brand spanking new!) and Capt. Lawrence 'Seeking Alpha' Triple IPA to finish it off. Come on by and give them a try! An abundance of great new IPA arrivals over the last few days make a focused tasting absolutely necessary. Two brand new IPA packages just begging to go mano-a-mano (hoppo-a-hoppo?) to see what's your brand new favorite. But every good fight needs an undercard, so we will have a fresh selection of 4-5 'old' favorites, the final selection of which we will post on our Facebook page tomorrow. We will see if the Old School is better than the New School; who knows, we may even be tasting the Southern Tier Nu Skool! Stay tuned!
We had a lovely little surprise arrive on our doorstep when two new canned offerings from BadWolf materialized. What better reason to have a tasting? The 'Kaiju' IPA and 'Mother Pucker' Raspberry Sour are both slated to be regular offerings in their new packaged lineup, so it will be interesting to see how they measure up. Along with these two we are also featuring their 'Jesse's Girl' American Amber (hoppy and nicely balanced), along with a new arrival from VA Beach area brewery O'Connor ('Shipwreck Bay' Nelson Sauvin Saison) and the Knee Deep 'Stout-ella' Chocolate Hazelnut Stout (because you are just as curious as I am, aren't you...). All these will be available for tasting through closing time tonight. Hope to see you here! 'PREPARING FOR THE 2016 ROSE WINES' SPECIAL: TAKE AN EXTRA 5% OFF OUR REMAINING 2015 INVENTORY!!!2/21/2017 The weather is making it very clear (even if the calendar isn't ready to admit it yet) that Rose drinking season is back upon us in Central Virginia. Every year early Spring brings us a fresh crop of new releases, giving us the first look at the previous year's harvest quality. Most famous are the wines from Provence and the Rhone, but pretty much every wine growing region across Europe and now the world produce a traditional dry Rose. Fresh releases are great to try new every year, and you certainly don't need to have 4-5 vintages kept in your cellar, but they are not the fragile hothouse flowers most people believe them to be, at least not the good quality ones. Roses from last year should still have plenty of vibrancy and life if they were properly stored, and some great deals can be had. Like these, for example: While supplies last, ALL our remaining 2015 Rose wines in inventory will receive an extra 5% discount on your purchase. The wines can be part of mixed 6packs or mixed cases with other non-rose to receive the extra discounts. This deal does not extend to special orders or the 2016 versions once they arrive. First come/first served. |
